Rubber Extrusion (Non-Tire)
Bytewise manufactures rubber extrusions and the Profile360 family of on-line measurement systems for continuously monitoring the profile geometry of extruded rubber profiles. Profile360 takes a profile scan, matches it to a design template, then displays the profile on an optical comparator screen along with key measurement parameters. Profile360 measurement system is used on extruder lines after cooling as a continuous quality checking tool to assure that key dimensions remain centered and within control limits. The real-time monitor provides an alarm to alert the operator to any off-spec condition so that machine corrections can be made.

Profile360 has been adopted by architectural window seal makers where tolerances are challenging, and the cost of adjustments for off-spec seals is very high. It is also in use at silicone rubber extruders, where high raw materials costs make scrap reduction an attractive investment. Profile360 is very useful in multi-durometer extrusions, such as auto door and window seals, where calipers can be configured to verify the proper set-up for each extruder in a multi-extruder configuration.
