Rubber extruders often have difficulty at the beginning of a production run getting the product to conform to its specified tolerances.  The Bytewise Profile360 has proven to be very helpful in decreasing this start-up time.  By enabling the operator to visually see the dimensions of the extruded product as it is exiting the extruder head, the operator has been able to immediately “dial-in” adjustments to the extruder controls and start up times have been cut by 75% in real world cases.  This saves a tremendous amount of scrap material and wasted time of personnel and production equipment.

Another problem often experienced by rubber extruders is the tendency of the extrusion dimensions to change over time.  This can be caused by many things including changes in the batch material and mixing, extruder line speed, hardware problems, temperature, etc.  Many times when these changes occur, out-of-specification product is produced for long periods of time before anyone recognizes it.  This results in huge amounts of scrap material and wasted production time.  The Profile360 constantly monitors the product and will immediately alert an operator before an out-of-specification problem occurs.
