Applications
The Bytewise line of products are available for use in the following applications:
- On-Line Extrusion Profiling
- Off-Line Profile Inspection
- Tire Identification
- Product Guiding
- Tire Manufacturing and Testing
On-Line Extrusion ProfilingBytewise offers two product lines that are designed to collect the profile geometry of an extrusion on the production line and compare the actual data to its specification: |

The On-Line Profilometer utilizes multiple Profile Sensors to collect data from products that tend to be more rectangular in shape and have only two sides that need to be measured or monitored. Examples of products that might fit into this category are tire tread and sidewall extrusions, wood-plastic composite lumber and gypsum board. |

The Profile360 typically utilizes four Profile Sensors arranged ninety degrees apart from each other. This design enables the system to capture profile data from products that tend to be more square or circular in shape and have critical dimensions on all sides of the product. Examples of products that fit into this category are automotive door and window sealing systems, appliance sealing systems, automotive body side moldings, extruded plastic profiles, vinyl window lineal extrusions and wood-plastic composite lumber handrails. |

Off-Line Profile InspectionBytewise offers products designed for the tire industy and the forging industry for the purpose of making dimensional inspections of products or product samples that have been removed from the production line: |

Within the tire industry, we offer an Off-Line Profilometer (“OFLP”) that very accurately measures the exterior dimensions of tire sidewall and tread extrusions. This OFLP is often used by die designers to insure that the dies that they have cut are producing products that are within their specifications. This system has also been utilized by many customers to make periodic sample measurements of their extrusions. Well over 125 OFLP’s are in operation in tire plants around the world today.

We also offer a Bead-to-Bead measurement system that utilizes multiple Profile Sensors to collect a true profile of the finished tire from one bead of the tire to the other. |

Within the forging industry, we have developed the Blade360 which is designed to quickly and accurately measure the critical, geometric dimensions of airfoils destined for use in turbine engines. We also have utilized the same technology to measure other forged parts.

Tire IdentificationThe Tire Identification System utilizes Bytewise Profile Sensors to rotationally scan the sidewall and identify the tire. Identification can be based on the DOT Code, a tire manufacturer’s unique mold code, a molded-in bar code, or any other unique molded-in feature. The Tire ID system is also used in auto assembly factories to match the DOT Code, including the date code, to the Vehicle ID Number for purposes of recall management. |

Product GuidingThe Feature Tracker product uses a Profile Sensor to detect and track geometrical features on a complex profile and continuously output the position signal of that feature to an automatic guiding system. |

The Circumferential Tread Wear Imaging System (CTWIST) is a complete measurement system that characterizes tread wear in passenger and truck tires. The system can identify and quantify various irregular wear patterns and calculate the expected tread life of a slightly worn tire. |

The Splice Monitor is a special-purpose measurement system that monitors the dimensions of overlapping splices on fabric calender lines used in tire component preparation operations. The Splice Monitor measures 100% of all splices via right, left, and center channels to assure compliance with splice specifications. |

The Green Tire Uniformity Monitor uses Bytewise Profile Sensors to rotationally scan the green tire while it is still mounted on the tire assembly drum, and inspect the tire for non-uniform geometry. The system also monitors the placement accuracy and splice geometry of each component as it is applied to the tire building machine drum. |
